At Dominion Spring International School, our Basic Class covers children from Basic 1 to Basic 6, typically between the ages of 5 and 11 years. These are very important learning years where children grow in knowledge, confidence, responsibility, and independent thinking.
Our classrooms are well-structured, spacious, and designed (with charts and pictures, etc.)to create a focused learning environment where pupils are encouraged to think, ask questions, and participate actively in every lesson.
At this stage, pupils are taught a wide range of subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning, Basic Science, Social Studies, ICT, Civic Education, Creative Arts, Religious Studies, and more. Lessons are carefully delivered using practical examples, guided explanations, class discussions, and interactive learning methods that make understanding easier.
By Basic 3, pupils begin writing with pen as they develop stronger handwriting, speed, confidence, and presentation skills. They also begin reading novels and more advanced comprehension materials that strengthen their reading culture, vocabulary development, and critical thinking abilities.
Our teachers carefully guide pupils to become disciplined learners who can work independently, solve problems, communicate clearly, and take responsibility for their academic progress. Extra support is provided for pupils who need additional attention, while advanced learners are challenged to grow even further.
Beyond academics, pupils are exposed to rich extracurricular activities including sports, cultural events, music, leadership training, public speaking, excursions, competitions, and creative projects. These activities help them discover talents, build confidence, and develop strong character.
As pupils approach Basic 6, they are carefully prepared for important external examinations including the Common Entrance Examination, Federal Entrance Examinations, and other qualifying assessments needed for successful transition into secondary school.
By graduation, our pupils are academically prepared, emotionally confident, and fully equipped with the skills needed to succeed in secondary education and beyond.
At Dominion Spring International School, we are committed to raising confident, intelligent, disciplined, and future-ready learners who are prepared to excel in every stage of life.
